There will be eight Florida Breeders Stakes Finals Saturday for two and three-year-old state-bred trotters and pacers with purses ranging from $54,000 to $65,000. Two of the two-year-old pacers entered, I Am Nasty (2nd race) and I’ve Got The Power (6th race) each can win outright or share in a $100,000 bonus provided they can win their respective divisions.
In addition to the live race program there is a free t-shirt giveaway starting at 6:00 PM and free prize drawings for adults to win raffle tickets for the Dreamfinder Farms $1 million home and professional football game tickets. There will also be free miniature horse rides for children starting at 7:30 PM.
Total purses for the 14-race program Saturday amount to $517,550, making it the richest night of racing at the track in the three-year history of the Super Night Program.
The 1st race $63,019 trot for two-year-old fillies features Latest Fashion (post 4) going for her third straight win again Fimo (post 3) who has won 6 of 10 starts and J P Sage (post 6) who has won 6 of 9 starts.
The 2nd race $65,057 pace for two-year-old fillies is headlined by I Am Nasty and driver Wally Hennessey. They go for the $100,000 bonus from post eight and have won 9 of 10 starts with one second place finish on the nearly perfect season. Also entered is the only filly to have beaten her this year, Flirty Feathers, who starts from post three for driver Mickey McNichol. Flirty Feathers has won 6 of her 8 career starts.
Admiral Nemo (post 2) renews his rivalry with Famous Mark (post 6) in the 3rd race $63,732 Breeders Stakes for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings. Admiral Nemo has won 6 of 10 starts this year. Famous mark romped last week by nine open lengths in a lifetime best time of 1:58.1 and has beaten Admiral Nemo twice this season.
Dunlear Court has won an impressive 11 of 15 starts this year and she heads the 4th race $53,977 Breeders Stakes for three-year-old pacing fillies. Starting from post three for driver Bruce Ranger, Dunlear Court is on a three-race winning streak. But also in the race is Sanfandango (post 2) for driver Walter Ross, Jr. and she has won her last two starts with impressive wire-to-wire victories in 1:54.4 and 1:54.3 and has also handed Dunlear Court one of her only losses this year, a nose defeated back on September 9.
I’ve Got The Power not only has a shot at the $100,000 bonus in the 6th race $56,686 two-year-old colt and gelding division, but also puts his seven-race winning streak on the line for driver Wally Hennessey. Trained by Michile Lorenzo and owned by the Keisers Oberman Stables and Rod Lorenzo of Boca Raton, I’ve Got The Power has won 9 of his 10 career starts and $39,642 this year.
I’ve Got The Power will be pressured once again by Letthemagicbegin (post 9), Scoot To Please (post 8), Lover Noy Le Ru (post 3) and Welcome Lover (post 4), all of whom have taken their shots over the season but have failed to defeat I’ve Got The Power.
What A Pearl made a remarkable comeback last week and heads the 7th race $54,115 division for three-year-old trotting fillies. In winning her elimination division for Saturday’s final, she overcame post seven for driver Tom Sells and led the entire mile race, winning by two open lengths in a lifetime best clocking of 2:00.2. She is taking on Stolen Penny (post 3) who is on a four-race winning streak for driver Bruce Ranger. Other contenders include Doc’s Krista (post 2) and Crown Candie (post 7).
In the 9th race $61,232 final for three-year-old trotting colts and geldings, Talk About Me comes into the race for driver Mickey McNichol on a three-year winning streak, having won four of his last five starts from both inside and outside post positions and last week scored in an overnight race against older horses in a lifetime best 1:56.2. He takes on stakes rivals Famous Lover (post 8) and Youngbro Patriot (post 1).
The final Florida Breeders Stakes takes place in the 11th race with the $62,132 finale for three-year-old pacing colts and geldings. Featured is Florida Boy from the rail for driver Wally Hennessey. Florida Boy is on a five-race winning streak and has won 6 of his 7 starts this year. But Florida Boy is not the fastest in the field. Not after Dontpassdamustard’s 1:52.3 performance last week against older horses. Dontpassdamustard starts from post six for driver Bruce Ranger and last week scored only his second win this year.
