Contesting the first semi-final of the Vicred Super Series for 4-year-old mares, Innocent Eyes overcame a second row draw in crossing the line 10.4 metres clear of her nearest rival, Atom Rain.
Driven by Gavin Lang, the daughter of Safely Kept settled midfield before 'The Iceman' made his move out three wide with 1200 metres to run.
Parked outside of the leader Little Dreamer, as the bell sounded Innocent Eyes quickly put paid to her opposition 300 metres from home, when Lang elected to give her more rein.
In the twinkling of an eye, the first semi was all wrapped up as Innocent Eyes had established a winning break on straightening for home.
Atom Rain finished the race off in a determined fashion in claiming second position while Cunning Kate was a further 1.5 metres away.
Little Dreamer, who was the second elect for the race, enjoyed a good run in front but when pressured by the odds-on favourite, the daughter of Dream Away didn't have an answer to her brilliance.
As a result, Little Dreamer faded to finish a 17.3 metre fifth, with her recent run of victories coming to an abrupt end.
Shortly after the starter had released the field, the outstanding mare Ladyinred was out of contention.
The daughter of Christian Cullen broke after going just a few strides, resulting in the Bill Galea trained 4-year-old losing at least 100 metres.
Ladyinred then went around for exercise in finishing a distant last.
Although the all-important barrier draw is yet to take place for the Final, Innocent Eyes looks the one to beat.
After commencing her career in West Australia, where she won three of her 13 engagements, Innocent Eyes has thrived under the care of Lang.
The mare has contested 15 races for Lang, resulting in 13 wins and two placings.
Along the way Innocent Eyes has added her name to such races as the Nevelle R Stud Victoria Oaks, the Nevelle R Stud Australian Oaks and the Qantas Chariots Of Fire at Harold Park.
The daughter of Safely Kept is out of a Lordship mare in Cerebrano.
Bred in New Zealand the mare started and finished her career in West Australia, where she won four of her 28 starts.
After her first two foals, Happy Champ (Champagne Happy) and I Believe (Northern Lights) failed to win a race between them, Sing For A Million, a colt by Million To One managed to win two of his 91 starts.
Windsong, a Northern Lights filly, and Lady Maryclaire, who was a daughher of Walton Hanover, both chimed in for a few more wins, before a colt by Armbro Operative, Apollo Anton failed to greet the judge in 11 appearances.
Cerebrano then struck gold when her mating with Safely Kept produced a striking black filly in December 2001.
A year after having Innocent Eyes, Cerebrano gave birth to her full-sister, Elegant Eyes.
To date the filly has chalked up one win from seven starts, and that was at Harvey back in May 2005.
The filly hasn't raced since finishing down the track at Gloucester Park last June.
Still, Innocent Eyes didn't have a brilliant start to her career either.
Cerebrano has had a further two foals, in November 2003 a colt by Astreos joined the family while a year later a filly by D M Dilinger was born.
