The ORC has amended its policy on the granting of stays in certain situations. The full directive is available here.
Furthermore, trainers Wayne Prezscator and Paul Walter have been issued stays by the ORC pending their appeal hearings for Class III positives (Torsemide).
Both Prezscator and Walter were initially denied stays by the ORC, however, both trainers requested that the Commission review that decision, and have subsequently received stays that expire on April 30, 2007.
While a Panel of the Commission reviewed both cases and found no reason, as required under the rules, as to what exceptional reasons a stay should be granted, the reason given for the granting of stays was that "an article in a trade publication is not adequate notice to the industry for a policy change by the Commission in the granting of stays."
