The third leader in the race after Gridlock and Bramley Town, the sparingly raced Caprock mare dug deep and polished off her rivals with authority in a 2:01.1 mile rate, home in 58.7 and 28 sec.

The mare that is trained at Methven in inland mid-Canterbury by Barry Molloy has only started 14 times for four wins, two seconds and a third.

Clearly the daughter of Caprock has the ability to progress further through the grades if the authority of tonight’s success proves a reliable yardstick to her ability.

Gridlock, then Bramley Town, had turns in the lead before Amarok dashed to the front in the middle stages and dictated all the terms thereafter to score impressively.

Clearly, O’Reilly was aware he was driving the best horse in the race and made the most of the moment.

Cronadun rallied strongly from back in the field to cut Easy Armbro out of second.
