In the race-off, Armbro Affair and driver Ron Pierce had the lead just briefly to the quarter mile mark of 28.4 seconds but Pizza Dolce (David Miller) quickly took the lead just past that point.

Pizza Dolce held it to a 55.2s half and 1.24.2 three quarters, with Southwind Flanders getting close behind her briefly at the top of the stretch.

But Pizza Dolce widened the margin between her and the other two fillies and hit the finish line in 1.53.1.

Southwind Flanders (John Campbell) was second and Armbro Affair (Ron Pierce) was third.

Pizza Dolce is owned by David McDuffee, Peter McCann and Robert Pierz and trained by Brett Pelling.

In preliminary heats, Southwind Flanders and Pizza Dolce were the winners and both advanced to the second heat, along with the second through fifth place finishers.

Had one of those fillies won the second heat, they would have been declared the winner of the Futurity.

But Armbro Affair, who was second to Pizza Dolce in the first heat, spoiled their fun, beating Southwind Flanders by a nose.

That win forced a third heat race-off among the heat winners.
