The 'Merbein Mauler', as he is affectionately known, will step out in the $15,000 Greggs Electrical Ouyen Pacing Cup - the 21st leg of the Melton Saddlery Victorian Country Cup Championship.

Owner-trainer-driver Brian Sylvia has brought the monster seven-year-old back across the Nullarbor primarily for a tilt at the time honoured $50,000 Mildura Pacing Cup on April 5.

But first Sylvia has his sights set on win number 33 for the Legacy Of Power gelding when he lines up in tomorrow's 2600-metre standing start event.

Allotted a 20-metre handicap in the 9.30pm (AEST) feature, Cosmic Legacy must concede each of his eight rivals a start, but the small field, his class and his improved standing start manners are a plus.

Whilst first-up for two months, the popular pacer was a devastating all-the-way winner under standing start conditions at WA's Gloucester Park three starts back before finishing unplaced as favourite in the much stronger WA and Fremantle Cup consolations.

His dangers will come in the form of Lenny Bromac - the lone 10-metre marker and stablemate of last year's winner Bel Cardo Master, together with in-form local pacers and front markers C C Mee and Yucatchim.

The Glenn Douglas-trained and driven Lenny Bromac has placed in just one of his past four starts, but drops considerably in grade after contesting a heat of the Watpac Inter Dominion in recent weeks.

C C Mee, who'd raced out of the Douglas stable over summer, returned to his former Irymple trainer and part-owner Robert Hyder late last month before registering an impressive free-for-all win at Mildura.

Whilst it is an Ouyen-hosted meeting, the local Mildura Harness Racing Club Syndicate, who are part-owners of C C Mee, will be strong on the ground and in voice if their Kiwi import can salute.

Likewise, the Managster Syndicate are likely to create plenty of noise if their up-and-coming pacer Yucatchim, a winner at four of his past five starts, can produce his trademark finishing burst and race to victory.

The first of eight races on Ouyen Pacing Cup night at Mildura is at 6.32pm with adult admission just $7, concession $3 and children under 18 admitted free.

For the kids, there's free pony rides, amusement rides, a jumping castle, face painting and showbags for the first 100 through the gate, whilst the adults can share in wine giveaways and have a crack at the Pick 5 competition.
