For Dear Life starts in race four, over 1760 metres, from barrier six, at Harold Park.
The Life Sign colt, who has trialled well, will be handled by Honan.
His dam, Express Post, was a quality racemare whose winners are the ill-fated outstanding mare, Petousa, and now Flightpath.
For Dear Life is one of four debut performers in the event.
Damage Control (two), trained by Double Identity's former trainer, Harry Martin, is a Heartland Hanover gelding from New South Wales Sires Stakes-winning filly, Resilience, who bankrolled more than $210,000.
Kristysbeachboy (three, Alf Attard) is a gelded son of Jennas Beach Boy from Smooth Rena, a three-time winner (2:02.3), and as such is a half-brother to two winners, including last Monday's Devonport winner, proven standing start horse, Garnie (1:59.2).
Premium Red (seven, Matthew Jackson), is prepared by 'rookie' trainer Susan Hunter.
The gelding is by Red River Hanover from the unraced Panorama mare, Premier Crop, whose three foals have all failed to win, with only one having raced.
The gelding's second dam was the smart winner, La Stace.
