Ron Waples - 'He's just a big, solid, gorgeous-looking animal'

A couple of days ago, Ron Waples found himself on the track at the same time as Somebeachsomewhere, who jogged up alongside him with trainer Brent MacGrath in the training bike. "He's doing well," MacGrath told Waples.

Waples marvelled at how easily the colt was moving.

"If I was a horse and I looked over and had to race that thing next week, I'd be peeing my pants," Waples said. "That would be like me going into the ring with Mike Tyson. He's just a big, solid, gorgeous-looking animal."

In todays June 11th 'Globe and Mail' Jody Jamieson and Ron Waples say that it is just about impossible for any horse to beat 'Somebeachsomewhere' in the Pepsi North American Cup for $1.5 million this Saturday night at Mohawk Raceway.
