The Legends Mile winner has been invited to contest in six of the past seven Miracle Miles, giving Peace added incentive to do well with the Sydney-owned son of In The Pocket this weekend.
"There aren't too many horses with a better mile record than him," Whittlesea-based Peace said of the former Kiwi.
"He hasn't dodged any horse, he's raced against the best, and his mile record stacks up just as good as anyone's. It's just that he hasn't won a decent race yet."
"This is his big chance to win a decent race and hopefully get a foot in the door for a start in the Miracle Mile."
Given six of the seven Victorians on a shortlist of potential Miracle Mile starters are engaged in tomorrow night's race, victory couldn't do Cincinnati Kid's chances of a start in the$500,000 November 28 event any harm.
The beauty of Cincinnati Kid's situation tomorrow night from Peace's point of view is that the seven-year-old has drawn the coveted "pole" in the 1609-metre scamper.
Last year he had a back-row draw to contend with in the Legends Mile but still got within 3-3/4 metres of Penny Veejay in a track record 1:54.0 mile rate after finishing unplaced the year prior.
The dream draw leaves Peace with a litany of options in a field including stars such as Melpark Major, Decorated Jasper, Mister Swinger, Bold Cruiser, Manwarra Goforgold and Jagged Knight.
The barrier, combined with some health improvements, have Peace confident Cincinnati Kid can bounce back from an unplaced effort behind Melpark Major in the Popular Alm Sprint and improve on a record that sits at 19 wins from 68 starts.
"We had him looked at straight after Kilmore and we may have found a little problem, so hopefully we've rectified it," Peace said.
"I gave him three or four quiet days, like the vets asked me to, and since then he's had the hopples on a couple of times and felt really sharp.
"There won't be any excuses this weekend. He's eating well and when he's eating well it usually means there's nothing wrong with him and he's somewhere near it."
Bromac Bound For The Tarmac
A solid showing at Moonee Valley tomorrow night will secure Tanabi Bromac his spot alongside equine royalty on a flight to Perth next Tuesday.
Western Australia's two four-year-old Group 1 races have long been targets of trainer Keith Cotchin, who has the gun gelding tentatively booked on a flight alongside some of Australia's top thoroughbreds, including Takeover Target.
"I've been told there are a few thoroughbreds on the flight, too, so he'll be in good company," Cotchin said.
"I'm not sure whether there are any other standardbreds on the flight, so I hope he doesn't talk to them (the gallopers) too much, because we don't want him galloping," he added with a chuckle.
The Elmore trainer doesn't anticipate his stable star, victorious in 11 of his 22 starts, will have any problems performing well enough in the Seelite Windows and Doors Vicbred M0 Pace (2100m) at 7.30pm to warrant the trip west.
Disappointing on face value in a strong M0 at Kilmore on Cup Day, last season's Victoria Derby winner was found to have excuses, as emphasised with an emphatic return to the winner's list at Maryborough on Monday.
"He had a slight lung infection (at Kilmore), but he's been treated for that and he seems to be right on top of things now," Cotchin said. "It wasn't anything major, but he just lacked that sparkle and it showed in the straight.
"He's pulled up well from his run the other day. I haven't done much with him since then, he's just had a little bit of light pace work to keep him nice and sharp and I expect him to run a forward race."
All going to plan, tomorrow night's race will be Tanabi Bromac's last start before the $175,000 Golden Nugget on Friday, November 28 and the $125,000 McInerney Ford Classic on December 5.
"Normally I wouldn't back him up, but with the flight on Tuesday I thought it was best to have two runs close together to top him off," he said. "That way I've got time on my side to freshen him when I get to Perth."
Make Waves, winner of the race in which Tanabi Bromac was beaten at Kilmore, is another star attraction of a strong Legends Mile undercard at Moonee Valley tomorrow night.
The Russell Cook-trained five-year-old, a winner of 14 of 34 starts, will look to keep his unbeaten record this campaign in tact when he contests the Leffler Leather Merchants M1 Pace at 8pm.
The son of Beach Towel has been marked a $1.20 favourite from barrier three in the 1609-metre scamper with regular driver David Murphy returning to the sulky after suspension.
Jackpot Saturday Here Again
A competitive Legends Mile isn't the only enticing betting proposition for harness punters at Moonee Valley tomorrow night.
The meeting is the next instalment in Tabcorp's popular Jackpot Saturday initiative with the Quaddie and opening-race First 4 to both carry lucrative jackpots.
Before a cent has been wagered there will be $13,721.49 in the First 4 pool for the First 4 Jackpot Pacers Handicap that kicks off the nine-race card at 6.25pm.
Similarly, the Quaddie pool will be seeded with $6997.08 worth of Quaddie jackpot funds not won on harness racing Quaddies during October.
Harness Racing Victoria's form analyst Bill Hutchison thinks the best way to attack the First 4 is to take Im Mark Antony, King Of Paradise and Arma Harris for first and second with the field for third and fourth.
"Because it's a small field it's very gettable," ‘Hutchy' said. "The first three (selections) are going too well for the backmarkers to give them a start and beat them unless they get an easy run.
"That's why I'd leave them out for first and second, but they can run third and fourth."
So Hutchy's numbers are 1,2 and 4 for first; 1,2 and 4 for second and all eight runners for third and fourth and if you spend $50 on that you will have it going for 27.78 percent of the dividend.
Hutchy also thinks punters can narrow down a couple of legs of the Quaddie, which will be held on races 4-7 from 8pm, declaring first leg favourite Make Waves "a moral".
"It basically makes it a Jackpot Treble," he said confidently. "The Blossom Lady is open and it's nearly a field job if you wanted to play it safe, but I do like Deanna Troy and she'd be the one if you were looking to tighten things up in that leg.
"Ultimate Mark is my best for the night in the third leg, but if you wanted to go wider include Dilinger Girl and Albert Terrill, and in the Legends Mile I reckon there are three winning hopes; Cincinnati Kid, Mister Swinger and Melpark Major."
For $9 you can have the Quaddie going for 100 percent if you take Hutchy's selections with Deanna Troy "one out", or if you take the safe option and include the field in the second leg, $50 will get you just over half the dividend.
