Competing on the undercard, Auckland Reactor dominated the event to lead throughout in a1:58.1 mile rate for the 1950 metres. The highlight, however, was his brilliant 54.8 second last half, with a sizzling 26.3 finalquarter!
The son of Mach Three joins Blacks A Fake and Melpark Major as confirmed starters for the Miracle Mile, which is Australasia's premier sprint.
Co-trainer Mark Purdon, who will have his first runner in a Miracle Mile since Jack Cade in 2003, said he was thrilled to be issued an early invitation."It is great news," he said.
"I was very happy with his performance in the free-for-all on Cup day and he did it pretty easily in the end.
"He will now race on Friday in another freef or-all before we head off to Sydney for our shot at winning the Miracle Mile.
"NSW Harness Racing Club Chief Executive John Dumesny said with Auckland Reactor now invited, it paved the way for Harold Park's signature event to be classified as one of "the best ever".
"Look at the quality of horse we have in the race already," he declared.
"Blacks A Fake, Melpark Major and now, the undefeated Auckland Reactor - no other race can boast such talent.
"We have issued an invite to Changeover also, however, while trainer Geoff Small is keen to take it up, he is investigating quarantine issues which are a concern to his connections, and will inform the club in the next 24 hours of their decision."
