Ever since it has been one hard luck story after another with the nine-year-old son of Armbro Invasion, who hasn't been seen at the races since finishing ninth of 15 behind One Over Kenny in the Rowe Cup on May 4 last year.

But he gets the chance to add to his fine record - which stands at 83 starts for 15 wins, 28 minor placings and more than $320,000 in stakes - when he steps out in Saturday night's $20,000 Chris Howe Trotters Cup at Moonee Valley.

West Melton trainer Merv Williamson, who took over Glenbogle's training in June, said it would be great to see the gelding back at the races.

"It's been a while between starts for him, but what he's doing at home I've been very happy with," Williamson said. "He's been held back and I've got no doubt he'll come back (to his best)."

While rising stars Save A Sixpence and Sundons Tiavon are likely to command most of the punters' attention in Saturday's 9pm event, Glenbogle must be respected as one of only two Group 1 winners in the race.

His elite-level win came in the 2006 Bill Collins Trotters Mile, but he was also runner-up in that event in the 2005. He has also twice been placed in the Dullard Cup, finished second in a New Zealand Trotters FFA and third in the 2006 Australian Trotting Grand Prix.

The other Group 1 winner in this weekend's race is Glenbogle's older half-brother Whatsundermykilt. Owned in the same interests, he was also transferred from Fairbairn to Williamson in June and will be having his first start since July.

Williamson said his pair will naturally improve with racing, but two trials each have their fitness levels at a stage that will see them competitive despite being co-backmarkers off 40 metres.

"Whatsundermykilt is probably the more forward of the two because he only had the six-week break (in the paddock), whereas the other bloke's had a lot longer off," he said.

"Naturally they won't be race fit, but we've got them close and if the right things happen for them during the race they'll be right in it."

Williamson's pair share the $21 line in TAB Sportsbet's fixed odds market. Save A Sixpence (10m) is the pronounced $1.70 favourite with Flash Teena ($5, front) and Sundons Tiavon ($5.50, 20m) the only others under $15.

Williamson said Moonee Valley's December features are again the major aims for his pair, who will both progress to the Cranbourne Trotters Cup on Saturday, November 29 if they come through this weekend's race well.
