Family bred and raced, Miss Deville driven by Craig Demmler led out from gate four, but was relentlessly attacked by the favourite Im Bellas Fella which eventually took over after travelling half a lap.
Easing to be outside the leader on turning, Miss Deville having her first outing since January, finished her race off in fine fashion to draw away over the concluding stages in defeating Im Bellas Fella and Love You Cyprus in a slick 2-00.8 and in doing so, recorded her 3rdsuccess in 9 race appearances.
A WAY WITH THE KIWIS
Melton horseman Lance Justice has a remarkable record with former Kiwi horses and did it again at Cranbourne on Wednesday, when both Ella Powell and Coastal greeted the judge when making their Australian debut.
Ella Powell a 6-Y-0 Earl/Eilish Mac mare raced by the same connections of her full brother Earl Of Mot, possied five back in the running line off a 30 metre handicap in the Farmhand Trotters Handicap for T0 or better class over 2585 metres when having her first outing since May.
Sent forward to park outside the pacemaker Earl Castleton with a circuit to travel, Ella Powell cruised to a slender lead on the final bend, before racing away in the straight to register a most impressive performance in accounting for Rollin Ontheriver and Warraroong Girl in a rate of 2-07.4.
Courage Under Fire/Coastwatch gelding Coastal which had been racing against the cream in his homeland (Stunnin Cullen, Tintin In America & Highview Tommy), stepped out in the Wizard Home Loans Cranbourne 3-Y-0 Pace over 2105 metres.
First-up since May, Coastal bred and raced by millionaire Queensland developer Greg Brodie wasn't pushed out from gate two, settling one/one on the back of Lombo Cousteau.
Not happy with the tempo, Justice eased three wide and was handed the lead on a platter by Ross Payne aboard Tab One and without any pressure being applied at all, did only what he had to do in accounting for the roughie Big Majority and The Prestige in 2-04.6.
IMPOSING RECORD
Astute Lara (Geelong) trainer Dean Braun has a great strike rate and landed the Courage Under Fire@Stallion Station Pace for C0 class over 2105 metres with the former New Zealander Vinnies Falcon, a 4-Y-0 gelded son of Falcon Seelster and Coffee Crystal.
Driven by Daryl Douglas, Vinnies Falcon from gate three on the second line lobbed in a beaut spot one/one on the back of the hot favourite Pontificate (another Kiwi), but was left parked when the heavily supported runner crossed to lead.
Despite racing in the open, Vinnies Falcon after applying plenty of pressure to the leader approaching the home turn, drew clear in the shadows of the post to score from Adda Surprise along the sprint lane after leading and taking a trail, with Pontificate third in a mile rate of 2-01.5.
IN RARE FORM
Romsey trainer/driver Leigh Miles has the 4-Y-0 D M Dilinger/Miss Philpoots gelding Run Floyd Run airborne at present and chalked up his 3rdsuccess in his last four outings, by taking out the Renown Silverware Pace for C2 class over 2105 metres.
Settling mid-field in the running line from gate two on the second line, Miles sent Run Floyd Run forward with lightning burst of speed along the back straight on the first occasion to assume control and from there on, proceeded to rate the horse to perfection (quarters 31.9, 34.3, 30.5 and 29.1 for the last mile).
Although tacked by Vigilante moving away from behind the leader on turning to challenge, Run Floyd Run safely held his rivals at bay to score over Vigilante in a mile rate of 2-04.5, with Get The Nod an eye catching third after being trapped wide in the early stages and going back to last.
SINGING FOR JOY
Quality Barnett Hanover/Tabatinger 5-Y-0 gelding Singasongasixpence registered his 11thvictory when a strong winner of the Ultra Signs Pace for C5 to C7 class over 2105 metres.
Trained at Bulla on the boundary of Melbourne Airport by Dale Hogan, Singasongasixpence driven by former New Zealander Nigel Milne was trapped three wide out of gate six, with the last start Yarra Valley victor Tuff Jag leading from the pole.
Pressing forward to take over, Singasongasixpence was always travelling kindly and had too much in reserve at the finish for Tuff Jag to score by 1.8 metres on the wire in a 1-59.1 rate (last half 57.8 - quarter 29.6). Tranquil Odyssey was a game third after racing parked.
The short priced favourite Im Full Of Fire having his final test prior to the rich Gold Nugget Series in W-A, galloped on the final bend when eased three wide from three back along the markers and will probably not now make the trip.
