2) Dewey is 22-24 lifetime, SBSW 19-20. To put this into a TODAYS Perspective-as opposed to some of YESTERDAYS stars, in 1967, Nevele Pride won the first of three Straight HOY titles. As a 2 YO-he was the 1967 Horse Of The Year, and he had more WINS at age two, 26, than either HOY candidate this year will have STARTS-in their CAREERS!! 29 26-2-0.

3) Dewey has gone off at 5 cents on the dollar twice, SBSW 8 times.

4) Dewey is trying to become the first 2 YO to repeat in the Breeders Crown at 3 since Malabar Man did it in 1996-1997. SBSW is making his Breeders Crown debut. (Note-Artiscape is the last PACER to do this-1997-1998)

5) Dewey has NEVER lost at the Meadowlands 11-11. SBSW's ONLY loss came here-Meadowlands Pace.

6) Dewey is trying to do what Nihilator did, and what Tuff Choice did. BOTH in 1985. Nihilator NEVER lost here in 12 tries ('84-85), and Tuff Choice won 13 straight that year. His 11 in a row is already a Meadowlands record for a trotter for wins in a row. The all-time consecutive mark for wins in a row here is 16-held by the great filly/ mare Ellamony. 1993, 1995, 1996.

7) SBSW-If he wins the Breeders Crown final, will become the first horse since Niatross in 1979-1980 to both START-and-END his career with double digit victory winning streaks. Niatross won his initial 18, lost 2 in a row then rattled off 19 straight. SBSW will have a 10 race winning streak then the Meadowlands Pace then finish with another 10 in a row.

8) Muscles Yankee is looking for his first ever HOY credit with Dewey. Mach Three-the sire of SBSW was a one-time track record holder here-1:49 (with FOUR others) and is a son of a Horse Of The Year himself, 1989's winner Matts Scooter.

9) Dewey is the third son of Muscles Yankee to have a sub 1:51 victory. 1:50.2-Tom Ridge, 1:50.3 Strong Yankee and 1:50.4 Dewey. NO OTHER trotting sire has more than one! SBSW owns a 1:46.4 mark, and is the ONLY horse-ANY AGE-to win back to back starts in less than 1:48. (Red Mile)

10) 20 of 22 wins by Dewey are stakes. 18 of 19 wins by SBSW came in stakes.

11) Dewey is 4 for 4 in photos. SBSW lost a neck to Art Official in then world record time of 1:47 in the Meadowlands Pace, then decisioned Shadow Play in a great Messenger finish by a head. Those were his ONLY two photo finishes.

12) The FIRST LOSS in the career of Dewey-and ONLY loss in the career of SBSW-came while starting from post 2.

13) They last raced together October 4 at the Red Mile-and both had BIG days. Dewey won the KY Futurity, and SBSW set the world sophomore race standard of 1:46.4.

14) 10 of the 12 post positions for Dewey this year were post 5 or closer. EVERY race in the 20 race career of SBSW has been from posts 1-6.

15) NEITHER was favored-but won-their first career start. $8.80 for Dewey, $5.30 for SBSW

16) A $2 win parlay on Dewey-at the Meadowlands only-brings back $164.20. (Current)

17) Muscles Yankee, the sire of Dewey was involved in his own HOY battle in 1998, 10 years ago. He lost twice to Trade Balance in the KY Futurity, and that was enough for the voters to go to Moni Maker. Simply put-if a trotter loses in a Triple Crown event, it is basically over as far as HOY goes. It's been 13 YEARS since a trotter LOST a Triple Crown event and STILL was HOY-1995-C R Kay Suzie-Hambletonian.

18) Dewey was NOT favored in his last betting start, even money behind 1-5 Celebrity Secret in the KY Futurity raceoff.

19) SBSW's 14/15 mark-IF he wins the Breeders Crown final, would be the SIXTH highest win % for a HOY-IF he wins that too.

20) Dewey is trying to join Malabar Man as the first trotter since to have double digit WINS at both 2 & 3-AND a HOY title. Malabar Man had 13 wins both years. (1996, 1997)

21) IF SBSW wins HOY this year, his 21st career and final start will come in the Breeders Crown. This means that the three FEWEST starts-CAREER-for a Horse Of The Year-EVER-will have come in the LAST THREE YEARS!!!!! 2006-Glidemaster 20 11-8-0 2007-Donato Hanover 22 19-1-2 2008-SBSW 21 20-1-0

22) IF SBSW is voted HOY in 2008, it'll mark the 3rd time in 5 years that the HORSE OF THE YEAR has never suffered defeat anywhere EXCEPT THE MEADOWLANDS!!! 2003-2004 Rainbow Blue 30-32 (NJSS final at 2, Mistletoe Shalee at 3) 2006-2007 Donato Hanover Baby race at 2, Breeders Crown elim and final at 3 2008 SBSW Meadowlands Pace-2nd (It should be noted that TRIPLE Crown winner No Pan Intended was FOURTH in the 2003 Meadowlands Pace, and Rocknroll Hanover was defeated by American Ideal in a track record 1:48.1 on Hambo Day 2005-BOTH were also Horse Of The Year-so it IS tough to stay unblemished at the Big M)

23) SBSW would like to-make that LOVE to-have the siring career that Abercrombie had. The #1 sire in the history of ALL HORSE RACING! Well, Abercrombie is the ONLY horse to finish second in the Meadowlands Pace yet STILL be named Horse Of The Year THAT year! 1978. Somebeachsomewhere-2nd in the 2008 Meadowlands Pace....????......

24) BOTH Dewey and SBSW have had the same driver every start. Ray Schnittker and Paul MacDonnell. But Ray Schnittker trains too. The LAST time a 3 Year Old colt trotter had the SAME TRAINER-DRIVER for every race AND was named HOY?? 1977 Green Speed Billy Haughton.

25) Paul MacDonnell paid the highest price in the HISTORY of the Breeders Crown-1990-Bays Fella-$140.60-now he enters the final with SBSW-who'll be one of the lowest prices ever if he wins.

26) If SBSW wins the Breeders Crown final, no matter what Dewey does, he'll finish his career with the highest AVERAGE EARNINGS PER START EVER for a career. $153,395 Per. Dewey-if he wins the final, will end over $134g per. The current all-time mark was set just last year by Donato Hanover, who ended his fabulous career at $136,308 Per Start.

27) Santanna Blue Chip-a Breeders Crown winner and Keystone Horatio-a near millionaire-are the ONLY pair of colts to finish behind SBSW three times.

28) Who was the last 2 YO-UNDEFEATED to then go on to be named HOY at age 3? Gallo Blue Chip (8-8 on the NYSS circuit in 1999). It's going to happen again this year, with Dewey or SBSW. IF it's Dewey, then a very good side note is this-Guess who drove Gallo Blue Chip in his very first career start, a win at Goshen in the Landmark, to score by open lengths. And then NEVER drove him again. Ray Schnittker. (Note-Gallo was bought by Martin Scharf AFTER that very race for $100,000 from trainer Chris Oakes)

29) Dewey has competed at 6 different tracks, SBSW 7.

30) Dewey was second, albeit a distant second last year, in the HOY ballot 157-13 to Donato Hanover.

31) When Dewey won the Hambletonian this year, it marked the 4th time the pot has been $1,500,000. EACH of those 4 was won by a driver 50 or older-Hammer-59, Campbell-51, Pierce 51, Schnittker 50.

32) AVERAGE per start-JUST 2008. Dewey $154,213 SBSW $157,000

33) For the first time in his storied career-SBSW is going to make four straight starts at four DIFFERENT tracks. (Red Mile-Yonkers-Woodbine-Meadowlands)

34) SBSW wound up his career 15-15 in Canada.

35) Paul MacDonnell is one of SEVEN drivers to have had a MILLION $$ DAY in harness racing history. And the only one to do so in 2008-North America Cup night (Lantern Kronos his other big win that night). Del Insko-Bill O'Donnell-John Campbell-Brian Sears-Trevor Ritchie and Mike Lachance are the other 6. Mike did it on Breeders Crown night 2006.

36) For the 4th time in 6 seasons, the HOY is going to make his last start in the Breeders Crown. No Pan Intended not only did so in 2003, he became the FIRST colt to win both the Breeders AND Triple Crown, and did it in a lifetime best to boot. Rocknroll Hanover finished up with Crown glory in 2005, and Donato Hanover wound up his fantastic career in the Crown in 2007.

37) For the first time EVER-harness racing has TWO $2 millionaires in the same season. Dewey and SBSW. The 8th and 9th all-time.

38) Bloodlines-Dewey-Muscles Yankee-Valley Victory-Baltic Speed-Speedy Somolli. Trolley Square-Dewey's dam is a daughter of Speedy Somolli. SBSW-Mach Three-Matts Scooter-Direct Scooter. There's already a HOY precedent here-Matts Scooter won it in 1989.

39) Dewey CAN set the all-time record for a 2/3 YO COMBINED with a win on Crown Night, SBSW will just fall short with a victory in the Breeders Crown. Dewey goes to $3,345,178 at ages 2-3 with a victory in the final, while SBSW will wind up at $3,221,299 with a victory-JUST $4,354 short of Nihilator's current standard set back in 1984-85 of $3,225,653. Should Dewey be second in his final, he too would fall JUST shy of Nihilator's all-time best Freshman AND Sophomore earnings mark-at $3,220,178.

40) COMBINED CAREER MARGINS OF VICTORY-Ready? Dewey 63 and 1/4 lengths SBSW 65 Lengths!!

41) Currently-before the final (SBSW taking the bye) SBSW has the 6th largest single season ever for a pacer, 3 YO or otherwise. With a Crown WIN, however, he vaults to #1-THE single biggest pacing season ever posted at $2,448,003, surpassing Gallo Blue Chip's 2000 season of $2,428,816.

42) Dewey needs to win to surpass Donato Hanover's single season TROTTING earnings record of $2,336,190, set in 2007. Dewey: $2,408,987 if he captures the final.

43) Dewey, already over $3 million career, joins Magician and Fools Goal as TRIPLE-Millionaires who NEVER ventured Overseas.

44) ONLY Donato Hanover has won the World Trotting Derby-the Canadian Trotting Classic-the Hambletonian and the Kentucky Futurity and been named HOY. Dewey has won those SAME four races this year.

45) 13 of the 24 career starts for Dewey were from posts 1-2-3

46) 13 of the 20 career starts for SBSW were from posts 1-2-3
