The colt was found to have an abscess in his throat last week, putting his next start in doubt. Schnittker told Fanning that if Dewey bounces back following today's work he may ship the colt to the Meadowlands on Wednesdayfor additionalwork.
Deweycheatumnhowe is the early favorite in his $500,000 Breeders Crown, that will be raced at The Meadowlands this coming Saturday night, in what would be the final start of his career.
Scratch time for the race is Wednesday morning. There are no also eligible horses that would draw in the race if "Dewey" scratches, and the starting fee is due whether he starts or not.
Retention barn reporting time for the Breeders Crown is 9 p.m., eastern on Friday.
