PT Stable's Delray, handled by Ross Wolfenden, drew the rail. Howard Jacobs' Rockem N will be driven by Jim Morand. Driver Roger Plante's Beal Hanover, Greg Burton's H Hall with Brian Burton and Nights Nautical, owned by driver George Dennis, Tina Dennis, and ASK Stables, complete the lineup.

In the $30,000 Claiming Allowance, Greg Davis' Heavenly Flight (Morand) races for a price while two starters race for new owners after being claimed, Mike Hall's Draft Hanover (Wolfenden) and Bill Emmons' Definitely Maybee (Morgan). Arty Foster's Ace Boo Koo (Pierce) set a lifetime record 1:51.4 victory, his third in a row last start, but must overcome post 8.
