"Every horse in the race has a chance of winning and racing luck will probably determine the outcome," Warner noted of this season's "Race For The Matzohs". "Of course, like in nearly all races, having an inside post position is always a plus."
It just so happens that the two drivers seeking the title of modern era "Ben Her" have drawn the inside post positions.
Alan Schwartz, a three-time Passover Pace winner, will handle Ruthe Stern's, Kid Carrots, and will start from the pole position while Mike Kimelman, also with three Passover Pace victories to his credit, will start right alongside Schwartz in post two with Scenic View Farms, Wild Willy Magoo.
Track odds-maker, John Flynn has rates Kid Carrots at 4-1 on the morning line and had tabbed Wild Willy Magoo at 7-2.
However, Flynn has made Jimmy Shield's ,Diaper Dandy, the 5-2 early line favorite, possibly because of his last two races where the veteran Cambest gelding posted two second place finishes while being clocked in 2:00 and change in both contests. Shields will be in the bike but Diaper Dandy will have to overcome starting from post position eight.
Warner thinks the sleeper in the race could be Eddy Crespo and John Turok's, Pacific Sun, rated 8-1 in the morning line. Last year's Passover Pace winner Bob Hechkoff will drive the Pacific Fella gelding when he starts from post position four. Pacific Sun is the only pacer in the event that has been victorious thus far this season.
Other starters include: (#3) Dempsey Blue Chip (9-2-Murray Bassen); (#5) Famous Last Words (3-1-Peter Lutman III) ; #6- My Miracle (10-1- Mark Liebowitz); and #7-Sand Casteel (12-1-Derick Giwner).
The "Race for the Matzohs" will be the fourth race on the 11-race card on April 15. First post is scheduled at 1:10p.m.
