Pans O Silver, owned by Alex MacPhee, Cornwall and driven by son Brian, has been established as the morning line favorite in the eight- horse field from post five. The Governor's Plate contender will tackle stiff competition from other plate starters like Porthill Alf with Michael Stevenson and Take the Risk, who has landed on the outside post 8, for owner Walter Simmons, Summerside, catch-driver Gary Chappell and trainer Wade Sorrie. The $2,400 event has pacing stars Whos Smiling Now with Jason Hughes, Electric Moves and Marc Campbell, Victory Creed with Brian Andrew and Fleet Officer with Kenny Arsenault taking positions on the inside of the starting gate.
Racing analysts, Gerard Smith and Les MacIssac, have put Pans O Silver on top of the triactor ticket. "He had his string of top three finishes broken in the Plate but the eight hole was certainly a contributing factor in that," said MacIsaac. "He isn't meeting any that have beaten him in recent starts and gets some post relief with the move three spots to his left so be prepared for a much better result this time around."
Negrito, newcomer Red Man A and PH Super Dave are the early favorites in the back-up class presented by Keir's Overhead Doors. Jamesgotthepower, owned by David Tierney and Ron Gass, gets the early nod the evening's trot class. Gass will drive from post 5. Gary Chappell, who is aboard Olive Grove, owned by Myles Chappell, Breadalbane, will try to extend his lead in the Johnston's Salads/Keybrand Foods Inc Trot Challenge. The veteran driver has 69 points going into the card with Joey Pineau at 52 and Willie Murphy and Kenny Murphy locked at 34. Brian Andrew rounds out the top five with 24.
