The victory wasn't easy for Oh Gee Whiz. The 5-year-old son of Presidential Ball tipped three-wide past the fifth-eighths pole, around dull cover, and then was forced to slug it out it first-over until deep stretch, where he fought to a head win, in 1:55.4.
Robin Of Locksley, with Jimmy Whisman, finished second, while Nifty Prescott, with Ken Holliday, finished third. There were six horses within two lengths of each other at the wire in the weekly pacing feature.
Jack Flanigen was the driving star of the evening, guiding home a Trifecta of winners, while John Cummings, Jr. had a driving double. Trainers Mihajlo Zdjelar, Jr. and Bob Gruber had training doubles.
There are only eight more racing nights left in the 2009 season at America's oldest lighted harness track. Live racing will resume on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.
