The big striding Christian Cullen 5yr old was given rein from the 800 by trainer/driver Robbie Holmes to unleash a 54.7 half, a closing quarter in 27, to win untested by 2 3/4 lengths from Hilarious Life.
The North Canterbury pinup girl was given a few days off after the NZ Cup, and has continued to work well according to Holmes."She's done a lot of heat work as well as working over 2400 and 1600m, It's just about maintenance and keeping her fit really". And just how do you see your chances in the Miracle Mile ? "It's a massive challenge, but I'm looking forward to it. The Menangle track is excellent, I've got great respect for all the runners, especially Black's A Fake and Monkey King. The way Monkey has been finishing off his races, I think he's the one to beat", Holmes said.
Kiwi Ingenuity flies out of Christchurch early Thursday morning bound for Sydney, before being floated to the Menangle stable of David Thorn. The daughter of Christian Cullen will not only try to emulate her father by winning the Miracle Mile, but will attempt to become the first mare to win the race since Norms Daughter won back in 1996.
