Driven by Peter's daughter Kate Gath, Willoughby's ) performance was outstanding after showing no speed from the pole and easing all the way back through the field to settle at the tail of the field.

Extricated three wide racing for the bell to park outside the leader Pepperell Jewel, Willoughby put pay to his rivals in a couple of bounds along the back straight to win by a space in advance of The Jouster from near last, with Pepperell Jewel holding down third.

Kilmore trainer/driver Rita Burnett was successful with the speedy 4-Y-0 River Khan/Fission And Fame gelding Khan Bat Khan Bowl in the Barastoc Pacers Handicap for C0 class over 2100 metres at Geelong on Thursday in a comfortable rate of 2-04.2.

Beginning with his usual zest as the tapes released, Khan Bat Khan Bowl had little difficulty in leading and was never headed in coasting to the wire in advance of Khans Gold which trailed using the sprint lane to no avail, with Caitlyn Maybe third after following the pair.

Shock result

Kilmore's Rosie Weidenbach (Rita Burnett's sister) stunned quaddie punters when 8-Y-0 Kiwi bred Enterprize Zone/Legal Tender gelding Chromeazone scored in the second leg - the Geelong Australia Pace for C2 class over 2100 metres ar Supertab odds of $59.40.

Taking a concession for young gun Rhys Nicholson, Chromeazone enjoyed the run of the race from gate two on the back of the poleline leader Zidanne, before finishing best along the sprint lane to gain the day over Four Wise Men out wide and Jewel Of Manwarra in a rate of 2-01.9.

Young Nicholson was to snare the TAB Double, when Village Deputy scored in the second leg - the Chas Cole Cellars Pace.

Kialla trainer Darren Rowney combined with Chris Lang (jnr) to capture the $5,000 Moama Trotters Cup for T0 or better class over 2530 metres at Echuca with Sun Samurai, a 7-Y-0 gelded son of Sundon and Kwik Kiss.

Beginning swiftly from a 30 metre backmark, Sun Samurai possied three back in the running line, moving to be one/one at the bell after his stablemate Old Dans Brother galloped, with the hot favourite Maori Vacation taking over from Prince Of All after a tardy start.

Easing wide in the last lap, Sun Samurai proved too strong over the concluding stages for a game Maori Vacation who's effort was meritorious, with Prince Of All third.

Local victory

Kyabram's Owen Meloury snared the Harcorp Trading Pace for C0 class mares over 2160 metres with Korobeit Nikki, a 4-Y-0 daughter of Telemon Hanover and Korobeit Princess.

Driven by Stanhope based Gary Pekin, Korobeit Nikki enjoyed a cosy passage on the back of the leader and favourite Rule The Pocket, before easing three wide on the final bend when the NSW visitor Packet Of Crackers which had raced in the open shadowed the pacemaker.

Finishing full of running on turning, Korobeit Nikki nabbed Packet Of Crackers in the shadows of the post to score in a rate of 2-02.6, with Do You Know third after being four wide on the home turn.

Elmore trainer Keith Cotchin's smart 4-Y-0 Falcon Seelster/Dorothy Bromac stallion Wizard Of Speed had nothing more than a "stroll in the park" to land the $6,000 Moama Bowling Club Moama Pacing Cup for C4 to C6 class over 2160 metres.

Leading out from gate two, reinsman Greg Sugars was never perturbed and Wizard Of Speed coasted to the wire in advance of Im Laughing which trailed and Mybilly Jasper to score in a 2-04.3 rate, chalking up his 6th victory in 23 race appearances.

Ardmona trainer/driver Doc Wilson's honest Kiwi bred 6-Y-0 Christian Cullen/Smooth Asset mare Smooth Christian was successful in the Petstock Pace for C2 & C3 class over 2160 metres.

Enjoying a cosy trip from inside the second line on the back of the polemarker Rosenlea, Wilson wasn't interested in using the sprint lane and eased Smooth Christian to the outside on the home turn.

Finishing best, Smooth Christian ran home stylishy to overhaul the leader in a 2-02.9 rate, with Gold Cafe running on late for third.

Puners obliterated

Koyuga trainer/driver Daryl Nioa left a sour taste in the mouths of punters at Echuca, when his 11-Y-0 Family Goods/Daisy Dee gelding Big Goodie scored in the David Peck Vicbred Pace for C1 class 2160 metres at Supertab odds of $36.80, leading throughout from the pole in defeating Blacktie Toff and To Love Again to register his first victory since February 2008 at the same track.
