Sent off at 1-5 from post nine, the filly sensation driven by Dave Miller set a new OSS stakes and track mark of 1:55.3 and in the process became harness racing's newest millionaire.

Poof She's Gone, by Kadabra out of the Garland Lobell mare, Travelin Superlite, was a $170,000 yearling purchase which McDuffee purchased at last year's Harrisburg sales."I sold one quarter each to my great friends, Herb Liverman, John Fielding, and Mel Hartman," McDuffee said.

Fielding says the rewards have been more than worth it. "She is something else. She's unbelievable." Among the groups recent triumphs with their super trotting filly came on August 8 in the $525,800 Merrie Annabelle Final; the $143,822 Champlain States September 7; and the $600,000 Breeders Crown Final at Woodbine October 24.

Owning world champions and winning some of harness racing's biggest classics are commonplace for the veteran Standardbred owner and New England native.

Inducted into the New England Harness Wriers' Hall of Fame in 2007, McDuffee has been a generous contributor to chapter causes and in his hometown of Nashua, N.H.

His trotting filly Pizza Dolce was the 2002 Dan Patch award winner in the two-year-old division and he had part ownership in Kadabra, the 2002 Trotter of the Year who earned $1.9-million.

He is also one of four persons to win two Little Brown Jugs, Magical Mike (1:52.3) in 1994, and Ambro Operative (1996) also timed in 1:52.3 and which he co-owned with his late friend Tom Walsh Jr.He donated the two brown jugs to the New England chapter's harness display at the Sports Museum at TD Bank in Boston.

Other McDuffee race credits include the Woodrow Wilson, four Breeders Crowns, the Governor's Cup and numerous races in New England and Canada including winning the Orsi Mangelli twice in Milan, Italy.

Nashua's racing legend also devotes time to civic and charitable causes. He is a Past President of the Merrimack Chamber of Commerce and former vice president of the Nashua, N.H. Boys" and Girls Club.

Poof She's Gone will be among the favorites in the Dan Patch voting for the top two-year-old trotting filly as voted upon by the members of the U.S. Harness Writers Association.

As for McDuffee's recent success with Poof She's Gone, he sums it up this way:"It's like having your own son make it to the Major League All-Star game."
