He was rushed to Baltimore for surgery deemed successful. Callahan was discharged and now will be sidelined for the next few weeks.

Callahan is currently eighth in the Dover Downs trainer standings with 30 wins and $330,195 in purse money. His son, Shaun Callahan, the stable's second trainer, will take over the training duties. Another son, Corey Callahan, is the track's leading driver and ranked second in the North American dash-win standings.

The Dover Downs 41st season continues with racing six days a week until April 15. Monday through Thursday racing starts at 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday post time is 5:30 p.m. No live racing on Fridays. There is no charge for parking or admission.
