History

Yarndley Farms first sold at the Yearling Sales in 1979. The colt fetched a North Island record price of $8000. This son of Black Watch then went on to win over a $100,000. The best yearling sold in those early days was Reba Lord who sold for $24,000 winning stakes of $385,000, included in the same Draft was another son of Black Watch who fetched an Australasian record price of $120,000

During these years the main farming enterprise was dairying however the horse numbers kept increasing and the cows finally went 2 years ago replaced with bull beef to clean the paddocks up. Yarndley Farms offer their clients year round agistment for their mares, yearlings etc and breed for 30 mares including syndicate mares which they manage.

They are situated 15 minutes south of Hamilton, 15 minutes from the Cambridge Raceway and 1 ˝ hours south of Auckland Airport.

This area, known as the Waikato is renowned for several of it's thoroughbred studs including Cambridge Stud and Windsor Park. In the past 12 years Yarndley Farms Draft have included Yulestar $1,695,276; Il Vicolo, $1,580,948; Mister D G, $748,865; The Court Owl,$476,785; Sovereign Hill, $432,555 Gran Montana, $298,523, Classical, $291,590; Hot Shoe Shuffle, $285,161 and Megaera, $250,646.

Over this period their Draft have won 25 Group One Races, 3 NZ Cups, an Interdominion Final, 6 Derbies and 27 Group Two Races as well as 12 P.G.G. Sales Finals
