Casimir Swamp Girl stayed unbeaten in the 2021 harness racing season with a Preferred 2 victory at The Raceway at Western Fair on Friday, Mar. 5.
Driver Colin Kelly requested a quick getaway from post six and the five-year-old mare obliged, hitting the front before the backstretch. From there, Kelly dictated fractions of 28.3, 59.1, and 1:27.3 and maintained a half-length lead going into the stretch. Casimir Swamp Girl then turned on the jets and defeated challenges from pocket-sitter I Wish You Well (Travis Henry), who finished second, and the first-over Bettor Trix N (Jean Rene Plante), who was third.
The winning daughter of Up The Credit took her 20th win from 35 starts and surpassed $110,000 in earnings lifetime with the victory. William Pendleton of Kenilworth has owned her and Kyle Bossence has trained her for all of those starts
Kelly took a driving triple from the 11 race card, also steering Marzannk Hanover to victory in the fifth, and Sr Beach Babe to a win in the seventh; all were in wire-to-wire fashion.
The Raceway also announced its 2020 award winners on Friday night. The list of honourees can be found here.
The London, Ontario track will return on Monday, Mar. 8 with a 10-race card starting at 6:30 p.m. EST.
