Emma Keihn was the recipient of a $10,000 win wager on the 137th running of the Kentucky Derby during a special day of activities at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino Saturday, May 7. Keihn was selected from a special drawing among VIP players at the facility along with five other individuals, who each received a $1,000 win wager on the Kentucky Derby.

After studying the program with her husband, Bill, Keihn went with the race favorite Dialed In. Keihn, a resident of Farmland, Ind., was joined by four of the other five $1,000 winners in selecting Dialed In. Keihn and her husband joined Hoosier Park Race Commentator Rachel McLaughlin and Hoosier Park’s mascot, Hoosier Buddy, in the winner’s circle prior to the event to announce her choice.

“My mother’s birthday was today (May 7) and tomorrow is Mother’s Day, so I’m going with the eight (Dialed In),” said Keihn. “It seems to be a popular choice.”

In addition to Keihn, Rhonda Cantrell, Bill Ditto, Tracy Rutherford, Elmore Hammes, and Susan Slate each received a $1,000 win wager for the Kentucky Derby. Slate was the only one that opted for a different choice with her $1,000 wager, choosing Mucho Macho Man as the horse she would cheer on.

Keihn watched the Kentucky Derby among a packed house at Hoosier Park. Her selection didn’t have the outcome she had hoped for, finishing eighth. However, the level of excitement during the race was escalated as nearby fans cheered for Keihn’ horse during the broadcast.

The wager is a play off of the $100,000 Dream Bet offered at Churchill Downs. Last year, Hoosier Park offered a $4,000 win wager on the Belmont Stakes and the winner of the wager, Tom Hanlon, picked the winner, getting a return of $56,000 on his bet.
