The Leigh Rand trained mare, Aussie Rock continued her good form when she won her fourth race in a row in Launceston on Friday night.

Sent out as the $2.50 favourite, driver Rohan Hadley was forced to work the Pet Rock mare to hold the lead in a 27.8s opening quarter.

They then ran quarters of 30.5s, 29.6s and 28.9s to record a slick mile rate over the 1680- metre trip of 1m 56.9s, shaving 0.5s off her previous best time which she recorded in Launceston the week prior.

It was a big night for Hadley who drove a double on the card including the feature race, the Launceston Discretionary with Sea Double Ugrant.

The Four Starzzz Shark gelding was able to grab the one-out one-back position in the early stages from his 10-metre handicap before recording a 2.4-metre win over Izaha with the race favourite Lip Reader a half-neck away third in a race that has been a horror story for punters in recent years.

Reinsman Conor Crook returned to the sulky for a driving suspension, and it didn’t take him long to bounce back into winning form with a driving treble on the card winning with Ozzie Major, Lord Stark and Denwen Dancer, who made it back-to-back victories with a dominant 5.9-metre victory,

Ben Yole remains at the top of the national trainer’s title with 28 winners after a treble at the meeting.

He prepared the quinella in the first race with Ozzie Major defeating Oneofthelads, while Postal Run scored two. His other winner came in the claiming race with Tarleton Riley, who was driven by Troy McDonald who leads the states drivers title, five wins clear over Rohan Hillier.

Harness racing in Launceston takes many weeks off with the next meeting not until 21 March which features heats of the Australian Female Drivers Championship.
