Matthew Dwyer is content to be a hobby harness racing trainer these days and with only two horses in work he boasts a terrific strike rate with both performing well in their respective grades.

In Launceston last Sunday night Crown Hill made it back-to-back wins when he led all the way to win a strong C3-C4 over 2200 metres and stretch his record to three wins from his past four outings.

With Ricky Duggan in the cart, Crown Hill was used up early from gate four to cross to the rail and hold out race favourite Lugovoi Leis (Gareth Rattray) and that pair singled out in the home straight the last time to fight out the finish.

About 100 metres out it looked as if Lugovoi Leis would get the upper hand and win but Dwyer’s gelding refused to wilt and gained the verdict in a photo-finish.

Crown Hill (D M Dilinger- Turn Point) is owned and raced by the trainer along with his fife Lauren and his father David Dwyer.

His other stable tenant Littlebitofglory went around in the following race but from gate eight, driver Gareth Rattray was forced to ease the six-year-old mare out to last.

She made a move three-wide but was unable to get any cover and failed to run on and finished just beyond midfield.
