Forever Paradise pulls off upset

Forever Paradise drafted behind race favorite Silverhill Shadow (Terry Gallant) and used the passing lane to overcome the pace setter in the stretch to win the preferred pace harness racing feature Saturday at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park. Silverhill Shadow held on for second and DBS Rosco third.

Mike McGuigan engineered the winning trip for trainer Kevin MacLean and the ownership team of Reg MacPherson, David MacKenzie, Stratford, PE and Aaron MacKenzie, Winsloe. Forever Paradise stopped the timer in 1:56 flat and returned $19.30 to win. The 2-3-1 triactor paid $203.90.

Edgewood had his picture taken for the first time in the winner's circle after arriving on PEI. Gary Chappell piloted the newcomer to victory in the trot division. The Glenn Claybourne trainee won by half a length over Holy Molie Maggie and driver Corey MacPherson. Neal complete the top three for Brian Andrew.

MacPherson recorded a driving triple on the 13 dash program with Jason Hughes, Gary Chappell and Marc Campbell scoring doubles. Trainer Ron Gass had two winners on the card from his Cornwall stable.

The wager was $39,755.

Thursday night racing opens this week with a new post time of 6:30pm.
