Track records are made to be broken but to do it twice on one day is quite a feat. It happened Sunday during the two divisions of the Island Trotting Series at the harness racing meeting at Red Shores Summerside.

Holy Molie Maggie, catch-driven by Gary Chappell, smashed the track record for trotters in a dazzling 1:58.4.

Jeff Holmes owns and trains the six year-old mare.

The former record was 1:59 set by Zip The Lip and Frill Seeker who both competed in the race and finished third and fifth respectively.

The performance also erased the aged record for mares established by Osprey Impact back on July 15 during Governor's Plate week.

But the new records didn't last long.

Two races later, in the very next split of the Island Trotting series, presented by PEI Harness Racing Industry Association, Charlottetown's newest track trot holder Thunderaway took her speed show to the historic Prince County oval and lowered the track standard to an amazing 1:58.1 wining by nine lengths.

Jason Hughes was in the bike for the mile for owner Foxyhall Racing of Summerside, PE.

Thunderaway remains undefeated since moving to the Island with two of her three starts having track record performances.
