CHARLOTTETOWN, PE - The rain was in full force for the Thursday program but so was Eastern Canada's trotting power at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

It was all systems go in the wet weather for Gettin Messi over a track with a two-second variant as the champion trotter won his three-year-old Lady Slipper division in a 21-length route in 2:01.1. Mike McGuigan supplied the drive for trainer Len McGuigan and owner Jamie Whalen of Avondale.

The card also featured a pair of $9,000 two-year-old Lady Slipper stake divisions for trotters and Mack Truck got up in the stretch drive to win the first split in 2:08 for driver Barrieau, trainer Randy Van Meer and owners Donna Van Meer of Bowmanville, Ont., and Lynda MacSwain of Stratford.

Mykindofparty had a maiden breaking score in the other $9,000 split in 2:06.2 in line to Corey MacPherson for trainer Paul MacDonald and owner Jonathan MacDonald of North Wiltshire.
