It was what we all expected today (Monday February18) at the 2013 Australasian Classic Yearling Sale at Karaka.

The yearlings with pedigree pages smothered in black print, such as members of the Black Maire/Black Watch, Scuse Me, Tuepeka Star, Nell's Pride, Tabella Beth, Zenola Star, Twice As Good and Burgundy Lass families dominated while the rest were left to struggle.

Well at least that's what was happening until lot 146 walked into the ring.

The Bettor's Delight brown colt that doesn't have a speck of black ink in his first three dams, or a group one winner on his entire pedigree page, showed that people are looking at the product in front of them just as much as the catalogue when fetching $68,000 for Tony & Anne Parker.

Hug The Wind was prepared brilliantly by Davina Addenbrooke and by all accounts was an absolute stand out.

Tony and Anne Parker are no strangers to breeding nice types having bred freak of nature Auckland Reactor and owned him in his first 11 starts/wins.

The man who brought Hug The Wind for $68,000 knows that the Parker's are good at giving horses the best possible start to life, after all Mark Purdon is Auckland Reactor's trainer.
