Moments of Joy won the Mares Open Pace at Dover Downs on Wednesday night.

The two scratches of Dibaba N. and Reclamation left a field of 6 quality harness racing pacing mares set to compete.

Driver Victor Kirby sent Moments of Joy quickly to the front and Delishka N was allowed to sit in the pocket at the quarter pole.

Moments of Joy controlled the pace setting fractions of :27.3, :56.1 and 125.1.

At the half, Valuable Art and driver Russell Foster braved the wind and cold by pulling first over into a strong head wind down the backstretch.

Bettor Joy N and Tim Tetrick followed second over till the head of the stretch. Tetrick charged 3 wide in the lane.  Moments of Joy dug in, as she did last week and captured her second consecutive win in the mares open by a head in 1:53.  She was the second choice in the wagering at 8/5.

Better Joy N. probably in need of a start off of a qualifier, finished second for driver Tim Tetrick and trainer Jim King Jr. She was the favorite at 2/5.

Delishka N and driver Allan Davis for trainer Wayne Givens remained on the rail, and finished third.

Moments of Joy, is owned and trained by Bryan Truitt.  Victor Kirby was allowed to control the pace and drove a perfect race in victory.

Dover Downs post time is 4:30 pm
