CHARLOTTETOWN, PE - A top notch field of pacers will take to the track in the featured harness racing pace on a stakes laden card Saturday night at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The capital oval will hold a 12-dash presentation Saturday starting off at 6 P.M. and Rose Run Quest will look to continue his dominance in the race 11 top event carrying a $2,900 purse. The Marc Campbell trainee has been assigned post 8 after winning this class his last two starts including a 1:54.4 scorcher in his latest. That post disadvantage is enough for race analyst Les MacIsaac to look another way and peg Euchred as the one who will acquire the front end. David Dowling trains and drives Euchred from post 5 after finishing no worse than third in all four of his seasonal outings.

"Euchred was not able to exploit that great gate speed last week but it's a different story tonight as the one that set the pace in the latest is stuck out on the fence," MacIsaac said. "If this guy can secure an uncontested lead there could be nothing but open road ahead."

Also in the field is Burn Out Hanover (Driven by Kenny Arsenault), Revenant (Adam Merner), IC True Grit (Mike McGuigan), Mick Dundee (Don MacNeill), Adkins Hanover (Ambyr Campbell) and Doctor Royal (Gilles Barrieau).

The Sophomore Maritime Breeder's Eliminations will go to the gate in four races on the Saturday program. Race 2 and 6 and will feature the eliminations for the three-year-old pacing fillies as the top four from each class makes next week's final. After pacing razor sharp miles in the Atlantic Sires Stakes last week in Truro, Marc Campbell's two fillies are being treated as the ones to beat in both eliminations. Arc Light is the morning line choice in race 2 leaving from post 4 in the field of five entrants. Ma Rebelle holds the distinction of the fastest sophomore lass on the Eastern Seaboard and has post 2 on the gate in her race 6 elimination with Campbell aboard.

The three-year-old pacing colt eliminations hit the track in race 4 and 8. The first colt elimination in race 4 has Saulsbrook Lassie pegged for top spot fresh off his 1:58.1 win in the Bob Dewar Stake for driver Adam Merner and trainer Jean Belliveau. Notorious is favoured in race 8 leaving from post 3 for trainer-driver Campbell.

Three Truths is the favourite in the race 7 Drive For Home Series Pace presented by Hillside Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac. Arsenault drives the Paul Doyle trainee off the rail in the $2,400 class.

Harness racing owner and business leader Peter Smith will be special guest on Inside Track with host Peter MacPhee. The interview segment airs at 5:35pm on the Red Shores broadcast.

Down On My Luck Makes East Coast Debut Sunday

SUMMERSIDE, PE - The road to the 2019 Governor's Plate is heating up as Down On My Luck makes the move to Eastern Canada to get prepped for the Prince County classic on July 13.

Red Shores Summerside will host a 10-dash card Sunday afternoon with a 1 P.M. first race post time and Down On My Luck has drawn the outside in a close field of 5 in the $2,900 Preferred pace. The top class will line up in race 9 as Jason Hughes picks up the catch drive behind Down On My Luck for trainer Patrick Shepherd and owner Robert Woodburn of St. Thomas, Ont. The five-year-old son of Camluck ships in from Ontario racing but it was a shot across the border that gave his seasonal best as he sports a mark of 1:54.2 over the half-mile oval at Buffalo Raceway in New York. The road to the winner's circle will not be clear sailing though as the red hot Soccer Hanover leaves from post 3 while riding a trio of wins in his last three starts. David Dowling picks up the catch driving call behind the Leith Waite owned and trained son of Dragon Again. Red Magician was an impressive winner in 1:56.1 in his latest and gets rail control Sunday for driver Adam Merner and trainer Melissa Rennie.

Also in the field is Woodmere Ideal Art (Driven by Dale Spence) and Screen Test (Corey MacPherson).

The afternoon finale will see another newcomer to the Island racing scene as Island native and leading Vernon Downs trainer-driver John MacDonald sends Dreas Good Powow back home for his brother Joe MacDonald of Breadalbane. The nine-year-old pacing mare was third in her last two starts at Vernon Downs before shipping East and MacDonald will entrust the reins to MacPherson in her $2,000 debut. Other top entries in the field include Ultimatelyhandsome (Hughes) and JK Cowboy (Spence).

Harness driver Dale Spence will be special guest on Inside Track with host Rocky Schurman. The interview segment airs at 12:35pm on the Red Shores broadcast.
