The last Saturday of March proved a red-letter night for one of Australia's leading harness racing stud farms, Empire Stallions, who provided the winners of three of the four Group races.

The unbeaten Four Starzzz Shark filly Frith led in an Empire quinella in the $100,000 Group 1 Bathurst Gold Tiara, leading from end-to-end to comfortably defeat the plucky Lethal Kiss (by Blissfull Hall). Out of an Albert Albert mare, Frith made it four from four for breeder-owner-trainer Bernie Kelly and his wife, Dianne.

An hour later the Modern Art colt Ultimate Art completed a Group 1 double for the Avenel breeding giant, leading from the outset to win the $100,000 Bathurst Gold Crown in a brilliant 1:58.4. Out of a By Xample mare, Ultimate Art posted his fourth win from just five attempts.

Earlier in the night the talented Dawn Ofa New Day filly Hirising made a clean sweep of the $40,000 Group 3 Bathurst Gold Bracelet for three-year-old fillies. After working to the front inside the first lap, Hirising held on resolutely to win by half a length for breeder-owner-trainer-driver Steve Harris.

She is one of the second crop of Dawn Ofa New Day, who boasts an excellent average of $20,000 per starter, and is out of an unraced D M Dilinger mare.
