The $102,000 two year old Pearl for colts and geldings was run at the harness racing meeting at Bunbury last night and signaled the emergence of a very talented horse in the form of Rich Yankee.

The good looking son of Yankee Sensation had won his last couple of starts in the manner of a horse on the rise and he franked that last night with a super display of front running that left his rivals gasping.

Aiden De Campo burned Rich Yankee off the gate from barrier six and grabbed the lead in the first 200 metres and from there it was catch me if you can.

Keeping up a steady tempo, Aiden upped the ante with Rich Yankee from the 800 metres mark, brushing down the back straight in 28.2.

Just when you thought Rich Yankee may come back to the field, he sprinted home in a smart 27.7 and in the process left his rivals floundering, clearing out for an impressive 12 metre victory.

Soho Wolverine got home well from three back on the inner for second for Gary Hall Jnr  in front of Alfs Odyssey and Justine Prentice who had trailed the winner the whole way.

Rich Yankee paced the 2100 metres in a smart 2:33.9, a mile rate of 1:57.9 with closing sectionals of 55.9 and 27.7

What made the run look even better was the fact that Rich Yankee looked to run those sectionals within himself and looked to have plenty of petrol in the tank at the finish.

Last nights win by Rich Yankee was his fifth in his debut season and took his earnings to $87,748 for trainer Jesse Moore.

Rich Yankee is the first foal from the former talented racemare in Rich Babe 1:59.3 ($134,415) who is a descendant of the brilliant New Zealand  racemare Arania who went 1:57 fifty years ago and then did a great job as a broodmare

It is a family known for producing high class two year olds with monotonous regularity and seems to have struck again with Rich Yankee.
