Harness Racing Saturday at Northfield, Ryan Stahl steered his own Dan Chaz ($6.60) to victory in the $6,000 Open Pace, while Wall of Famer Don McKirgan took the $7,000 Open Trot with Master Wheels ($16.80), owned in partnership with by his wife Sandi, Dee Ann Carter and restaurateur Egidioo Dipaola.

Stahl put Dan Chaz, trained by Kent Sherman on the front just after the quarter and controlled the pace throughout, besting State of The Union by half a length in the 2:00.4 mile over a track rated Good, -2 that was actually much slower. The top two benefited from the break of 8-5 favorite The Fonz, who appeared to have problems grabbing the slick racetrack. Dan Chaz is a six-year-old Expensive Scooter gelding who has now earned $84,772 in his career. The win was his 11th this season and 28th lifetime.

McKirgan gave Master Wheels a pocket trip and he triumphed with an inside "passing-lane" move in 2:04.2. Masters Light, coming off a 45-day layoff, did all the work, but tired late, while Lucca's Revenge got the show spot. Master Wheels is a four-year-old Master Lavec gelding who won for the 10th time this season and 11th in his career.

Also of note on the Saturday card, owner Charter Bryant, trainer Rick Mapes and driver Joey Mapes doubled with Expresso Forte in the Open 2 Pace and in a non-winners event with CB Three. Stahl, Matt Kakaley, Aaron Merriman and Elliot Deaton also traveled to the winners circle twice
