Dean Braun and Anthony Butt teamed up to dominate Easter Cup heat night in Launceston on Sunday with Willie Go West (pictured) and Our Princess Tiffany, recording dominant victories.

The Group 2 Ladbrokes Easter Cup Final headlines Saturday night’s 10-race card in Launceston, but first, we have Good Friday harness racing in Hobart.

It has been a big week not only in Tasmania but further aboard, with Ignatius winning a Group 3 race at Menangle, Max Delight scoring a heat of a Group 1 race at Wagga on Tuesday and Jack Laugher had a night out at Mildura on Tuesday driving five winners on the card.

The Stars

Our Princess Tiffany – was simply outstanding when scoring in her heat of the Easter Cup in Launceston. Her last half mile on Tasracing’s Calculated Sectionals was recorded in 55.33s, the fastest by a mare in Tasmania since they have been recorded in December 2015. Her mile rate was only 0.7s outside the 2698-metre track record.

Willie Go West – stamped himself as a strong contender for the Easter Cup with a dominant win in the opening heat. The pacer began safely from his second-row draw in the standing start event before working to the lead with two laps to go. Anthony Butt didn’t move on the pacer late, who dashed away to score an effortless win.

Ignatius – became the fastest Tasbred pacer on Australian soil when scoring in the Group 3 J. E. Binskin FFA at Menangle Park in Sydney, where he ran a slick 1m 49.4s.

Ricky Duggan – had a night out in Launceston with a driving treble on horses at different places in the market with Sharmey ($2.30 fav), Princely Reign ($13) and El Jays Blu ($19).

Kayleb Williams – the King Island driver was having his first night driving on mainland Tasmania and was fortunate enough to drive his first winner on the TAB circuit with a last stride win with Live For Peace.
