By All Means continued her winning ways with a 1:54.1 victory in Thursday night's $6,000 featured sixth race at Vernon Downs. Facing five like-minded harness racing foes in the week's top test for female pacers, By All Means ($5.70) got away in fourth place as Things Left Unsaid took the cast to the quarter in :27, and the half in :56.4.

Advancing from third on the backstretch, By All Means took charge approaching the third station and remained frisky to the finish, winning by two lengths.

Thursday’s tally was the second in a row and sixth this season at the Downs, tying him with fellow side-wheelers Johnny Midnight and Pro Bono Frank for most equine victories through 40 programs. It was the seventh season’s score overall and eight all-time victory for the 4-year-old daughter of Western Ideal-Get By, who has earned more than $26,000 after 22 current trips to the track.

Truman Gale, the track’s leading provisional reinsman with 13 victories, did the teaming for owner and trainer Robert C. Gale, who increased his win output for the meet to 10.

Claude Huckabone, III and Rick Plano each recorded a pair of first-place finishes during Thursday’s 10-race program.
