Three stakes and track records at Ocean Downs

The horses were as hot as the temperature at Ocean Downs on Thursday July 7 setting 3 Maryland Standardbred Fund Stakes and also Track records.
 
Kent County with Corey Callahan in the bike took control by the half mile marker, pulling away by 6 ½ lengths in 1:57 erasing the stakes and track record set by GooGoo GaaGaa back in 2012 for 3 yo colt trotters with a purse of $28,150. Kent County is owned by Robert Shahan and Donald Marine and Shahan also trains. Seafood Scrappy was second.
 
In the first division for filly pacers, Eternal Ring got the perfect pocket trip in the $15,525 split behind Toms Treasure, at the top of the stretch it turned into a three horse stretch drive when Miss Read challenged the leaders to the wire with Eternal Ring getting the victory, setting the Stakes and Track record for 3 yo pacing fillies in 1:53.1 Allan Davis was the reinsman for Bobby Glassmeyer.
 
The third Stakes and Track record of the night went to Next Success setting the 3 yo pacing gelding record of 1:53.2 in the first division for pacing colts and geldings by a head over Power To Perform. Henry Faragalli III, Nanticoke Racing Inc and Bay Pond Racing are the owners, Les Givens trains and Jim Morand was the pilot. Purse for the race was $15,725.
 
The $28,000 race for filly trotters went to the Winbak owned and bred Triple Bottom Line with Jeff Fout getting the training and driving duties. Triple Bottom Line maintained a length victory over Rock The Game stopping the timer in 2:00.
 
Jim Morand and Les Givens teamed up to take the second division for filly pacers with Use Your Noodle ¾ of a length in front of Takeittothebank in a quick 1:54.3 mile. Use You Noodle is owned by Nanticoke Racing, Faragalli III, Feeney and Johnson. This division went for a purse of $15,675.
 
The last stake of the night was the $15,875 second division for pacing colts and geldings. Vic Kirby picked up the assignment behind Double Miles for trainer John Wilkerson. Jeff Fout pulled All Artist up the backside on the leader getting a nose in front by the ¾ pole but Double Miles found another gear and crossed the wire in front in 1:55.2 for owners Michael & Linda English.
 
Maryland Sire Stakes action will start on Sunday July 10 with the 2 year olds.
