WASHINGTON, PA, June 3, 2014 -- Trustworthy Kid got his second straight Lightning Lane win when he captured Tuesday's $18,000 Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.

Big And Little cut out a swift three-quarters in 1:24.4 that left him vulnerable to the two-pronged attack of Trustworthy Kid inside and Tamarind outside. Trustworthy Kid edged Tamarind by a neck in 1:53.1 while Big And Little saved show.

Brian Zendt drove the 5-year-old SJ's Caviar-Penn Worthy Lane gelding, who now boasts $219,436 in career earnings, for trainer Walter "Boots" Dunn and owner Dunn Stable. It was one of five wins on the 15-race card for Zendt, including a pair with full brothers Hickory Big Red and Hickory Little Red, both trained by Phillip Zendt for William Gilliland. Dave Palone fashioned a triple.

Wednesday's program at The Meadows features the $93,860 Currier And Ives for 3-year-old filly trotters headlined by juvenile champion Shake It Cerry, who has won both her 2013 starts. She goes from post 6 in the first division, Race 1, with Ron Pierce driving for trainer Jimmy Takter. Post time is 12:55 PM.

On Wednesday, June 4, The Meadows Racetrack & Casino will offer a $10,000-guaranteed pool for its Pick 5 wager as part of the United States Trotting Association's Strategic Wagering Initiative. The Meadows added the “instant” guarantee after Tuesday’s Pick 5 was uncovered, resulting in a $2,523.64 carryover.

Minimum wager for the Pick 5 (Races 10-14) is 50 cents. Since Pennsylvania law requires a minimum per-race wager of $2, a player wagering at the 50-cent level must bet at least four tickets.
