Camwood retook his throne in the Monticello Raceway Open class on Tuesday, making it his third harness racing victory at the level in his past four starts.
The Woodstock gelding produced early speed from post six for Bruce Aldrich Jr. and worked hard on the outside throughout the first quarter mile to take the lead. He settled on the engine just past the quarter in :28 and brought the seven-horse field through fractions of :57.3 and 1:27.
Camwood’s victory was never in danger in the stretch, and he got home a winner in 1:56. Lacarmeliliana (John De Simone Jr.) closed late for place but was a length and a quarter short, and Stop Action (Brandon Parker) finished third. The win price was $4.10.
