August 8, 2020  - The 3.1/1 odds Moni Viking (7m Maharajah-Jeunesse Doree-Coktail Jet) rallied boldly to win the harness racing Gr. I International Aby Stora Pris (purse 3,580,000SEK total purse with 2,000,000SEK to the winner, 3140 meters autostart, 12 starters). Bjorn Goop trains and drove the winner for Jan Lyng of Norway as he won for the sixth time in nine 2020 starts and 13th career win in 43 appearances now for life earnings of 5,894,440SEK.  Who’s Who (6m Maharajah-Reality Pride-From Above) was second with Orjan Kihlstrom up for trainer Pasi Aikio. Third was Cyber Lane (7g Raja Mirchi-Sybaris Hanover-Cantab Hall) with Johan Untersteiner at the lines. Race time was 1.12.4kr with quick later speed. Watch the race here. I International event was contested by 12 females over the 2140-meter autostart course. The winner was clocked in 1.12.6kr off even fractions. Orjan Kilhstrom teamed Diana Zet for the Reden/Stall Zet team to her first 2020 victory in three starts and her sixth win in 13 career appearances. He life earnings reached 4,553,000SEK with this victory. Grand Diva Sisu (4f Ready Cash-Super Model-Daguet Rapide) was second from post 12 with trainer Per Nordstrom at the lines, as she made a valiant change nearing the line, off at 84/1. I International King Gustaf V Pokal at Aby (purse 191,000€, 2140 meters autostart, 12 starters). This 4/1 odds winner was teamed today with Johan Untersteiner by trainer Jerry Riordan (who won the 2018 Elitloppet with Ringostarr Treb) and owners Team Snyder AB and Aetos Dios AB. Aetos won for second time in two 2020 starts and this was his eighth career victory in 18 starts now for 4,989,550SEK in lifetime earnings. Race time was 1.11.5kr off quick but rated fractions (1.07.1kr at the first 500; 1.11.8kr at the 1000 meter mark and 1.12.8kr at the 1500 mark. Aetos Kronos was flying in the final 600 meters. The 3/10 favorite Conrads Rodluva (5f SJs Caviar-Moviestar-Juiano Star) did her job with a 1.12.8kr victory for pilot Orjan Kihlstrom and the Daniel Reden/Stall Zet team. She was a game winner with a quick final 640 meters as the 1500 mark was reached in a rated 1.13.8kr. The 6.7/1 Zaniah Bi (5f Equinox Bi-Fendi Bi-Sugarcane Hanover) was second for trainer/driver Alessandro Gocciadoro and 18/1 Vikens Fingerprint (5f Prodigious-Primadonna Tuna-Viking Kronos) was third with Oskar J. Andersson aboard. Conrads Rodluva The Saracen Horse Feeds Paralympiastayern (purse 29,272€, 3140 meters voltstart, 15 starters) produced a super impressive 1.12.4kr victory for 2.6/1 Moni Viking (7m Maharajah-Jeunesse Doree-Coktail Jet). The top three finishers of each elim advanced to the finale in May. April 24, 2020 - The final leg of today’s King Gustaf V eliminations at Aby (purse 24,018€, 2140 meters, 11 starters) produced a modest harness racing upset as the 3.3/1 Aetos Kronos (4m Bold Eagle-Will Of A Woman-Muscles Yankee) rallied to win in 1.12.0kr for Orjan Kiihlstrom, trainer Jerry Riordan and co-owners Team Snyder AB and Aetos Dios AB. Aetos, from post five and making his first 2020 start, traveled on the outer througout, some of it following Green Manalishi (4m Muscle Hill-Naga Morich-Enjoy Lavec) with Bjorn Goop up for Stefan Melander, trainer for Stall Courant AB. This one was away sluggishly from post one and then moved to the outer, making a three wide move toward pacesetter Upset Face (4m Joke Face-Iona LB-Supergill) with trainer Adrian Kolgjini aboard. Green Manalishi, in his first start of the year and first in Sweden, wore down Upset Face (in his second start of the year after an April 5th victory) in the lane only to see Aetos power past in late going for a length score. The European harness racing featured event on August 12th was the Aby Stora Prix with two heats (post positions reversed) contested each over 1640 meters autostart. Each heat carried a 400,000SEK purse with the final purse being 1,200,000SEK. Midnight Hour (6g Diesel Don-Quanne Kemp-Express Ride) took the two-horse raceoff in well-rated fashion timed in 1.16.9kr. Iikka Normonen drove the winner for trainer Ossi Nurmonen as that team bested Muscle Hustle (4m Muscle Mass-Crown Laurel-Cantab Hall) driven by trainer Robert Bergh. Muscle Hustle won the second heat timed in 1.11kr over Turno d’Azzurra (5m Love You) and third finishing Volstead. Midnight Hour won the first heat timed in 1.10.7kr over Turno d’Azzurra and BBS Sugarlight.  Aby Stora Prix organizers are reported to be considering a change to one heat over an extended distance in the future, in an effort to attract some of the better campaigners from France.
