WASHINGTON, PA, Jan. 24, 2020 -- Mister Spot A pounced on the weary leaders to spring a 14-1 upset in Friday's harness racing feature at The Meadows, a $13,500 Conditioned Pace. Do Work Son, Independent One and Statham N dueled for the early lead, resulting in a demanding 26.4 opening panel in the slop. Mister Spot A sat last at the half, taking it all in, when Tony Hall sent him after the leaders. The 6-year-old Village Jolt-Eerie Iris gelding advanced steadily and surged by Do Work Son in mid-stretch, downing him by 3/4 lengths in a career-best 1:52.2. Independent One saved show. Scott Betts trains Mister Spot A, who vaulted over $100,000 in career earnings, for Arrhythmic LLC. Dave Palone and Hall each collected four wins on the 13-race card. Live racing at the Meadows resumes Monday when the program features a $12,943.01 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5 and a $1,220.98 carryover in the Pick 5 (races 2-6). First post is 1:05 PM. WASHINGTON, PA, Nov. 27, 2018 -- Cracklin Rosie won her second straight Tuesday at The Meadows, rallying again to erase a substantial deficit and capture the harness racing $20,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Pace. Cracklin Rosie was fourth by 4-1/2 lengths when she followed the first-over cover of Shesasmokinlady. The 5-year-old daughter of Badlands Hanover-Honey's Bud Lite roared wide through the stretch for Jim Pantaleano to catch the leader, Circle The Page, and down her by a length in 1:55.2 over a "good" surface. McDazzle finished third. Scott Betts trains Cracklin Rosie, who now boasts $235,846 in career earnings, for Timothy Betts, Stephen Moss, Nicholas Catalano and Pedro Baez III. Dan Charlino, Aaron Merriman, Dave Palone, Mike Wilder and Pantaleano each piloted a pair of winners on the 13-race card. Live racing at The Meadows continues Wednesday, when the program features a $1,704.60 carryover in the Pick 5 and a $716.30 carried-over jackpot in the Super Hi-Five. First post is 1:05 PM. WASHINGTON, PA, Nov. 20, 2018 -- Last by 8 lengths at the half, Cracklin Rosie followed a line of cover to the final turn, then roared wide through the lane to capture Tuesday's $20,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows. Cracklin Rosie was third in a cover flow that seemed excessive. But when Jim Pantaleano tipped her wide for the drive, she showed she's no "store-bought woman" -- as Neil Diamond's 1970 chart-topper Cracklin Rosie had it -- and erased the last 3-1/2 lengths of her deficit, scoring in 1:55.4 over a sloppy surface. Jewels Forreal shot the Lightning Lane for second, 1-1/2 lengths back, while the first-over McDazzle finished third. Scott Betts trains the 5-year-old daughter of Badlands Hanover-Honey's Bud Lite, who extended her career bankroll to $225,846, for Tim Betts, Stephen Moss, Nicholas Catalano and Pedro Baez III. It was one of three wins on the 13-race card for Pantaleano. by Evan Pattak, for the Meadows

WASHINGTON, PA, Oct. 20, 2018 -- Phoenix Warrior N dueled with Windsong Leo through a 26.4 third quarter before edging away late to capture Saturday's $18,000 Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows. Phoenix Warrior N and Jim Pantaleano were stalking Windsong Leo and Dave Palone from the pocket when, after a sluggish 29.3 second panel, they decided to duke it out right there. The rivals raced as a team until the stretch, where the 6-year-old Jereme's Jet-Never Walk Alone gelding was the stronger, downing Windsong Leo by a neck in 1:51.4 over a "good" surface. Dapper Dude finished third. Scott Betts trains Phoenix Warrior N, who won for the 12th time this year and lifted his career bankroll to $345,973, for Timothy Betts, Nicholas Catalano and Stephen Moss. Palone collected four wins -- including a pair for trainer Trent Stohler -- while Tony Hall and trainer Ron Burke each enjoyed a triple on the 13-race card. by Evan Pattak, for the Meadows

WASHINGTON, PA, Sept. 8, 2018 -- Looped from the gate, Phoenix Warrior N nevertheless overpowered a distinguished field en route to his second straight victory -- and 11th this year -- in Saturday's $18,000 Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows. A 27.1 opening panel in the slop tested him, but Phoenix Warrior N opened a daylight lead for Jim Pantaleano and prevailed in 1:51.1, 1-1/4 lengths better than Windsong Leo, who rallied from an early break to earn place. The pocket-sitting Vague Traces was third. Scott Betts trains Phoenix Warrior N, an 8-year-old Jereme's Jet Never Walk Alone gelding who now boasts $324,823 in career earnings, for Timothy Betts, Nick Catalano and Stephen Moss. Aaron Merriman had eight drives on Saturday's program and made the most of them, collecting five wins, a second and a pair of fourths. Two of those victories were for trainer Bill Rhoades and owner Leah Rhoades. Dave Palone, Pantaleano and trainer Marcus Marashian each enjoyed a triple on the 13-race card. Live racing at The Meadows resumes Monday, when the card features a pair of Keystone Classics -- a $92,499 stake for 2-year-old colt and gelding trotters and an $82,700 event for freshman filly pacers. First post is 1:05 PM. by Evan Pattak, for The Meadows

WASHINGTON, PA, Jan. 2, 2018 -- Phoenix Warrior N stalked Lincolnjames from the pocket, then blew by him in the Lightning Lane to capture Tuesday's $20,000 harness racing winners over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows. In the season-opening featured race, with the weather frigid but sunny, Lincolnjames quarter-poled to the front and turned back the first-over challenge of Nimble And Quick. But he was no match for Phoenix Warrior N, who knifed inside for Dan Rawlings and scored in 1:54.2 over a "good" surface, 1-1/4 lengths better than Lincolnjames, with Atta Boy Dan third. Scott Betts trains Phoenix Warrior N, an 8-year-old Jereme's Jet-Never Walk Alone gelding who extended his career bankroll to $211,693, for Timothy Betts, Nicholas Catalano and Stephen Moss. Aaron Merriman and Mike Wilder each collected four wins on the 13-race card. The Meadows Racetrack & Casino
