Harness Racing Team Teal - WomenCan Cancer Foundation International Campaign: February 1 - March 14, 2021 The 2021 Team Teal Campaign to raise awareness for Ovarian Cancer Down Unda in Australia and New Zealand commenced on February 1, 2021, with a six-week campaign coming down to the wire on March 14, 2021! The funds, raised through the Team Teal campaign again in 2021, directly support ANZGOG's Survivors Teaching Students program. A ground breaking education and prevention program, that brings ovarian cancer survivors into the classrooms of medical and allied health students to share information about ovarian cancer symptoms, a women's path to diagnosis and their challenges of living with this cancer. The funds further support the ANZGOG Research Nurse Grant program. This program builds capacity of research nurses in under resourced sites to enable more women across Australia to have access to new and innovative clinical trials. In this edition of harness racing's  The Horseman's Voice: Jeff Gural - 1st generation horseperson, he shares his love of the sport from his humble beginnings going to Roosevelt Raceway with his friends and playing competitive sports with them whilst growing up in New York City.   After attending college and travelling to all major racetracks across the country during that time; he reminisces about convincing his wife to get a bungalow near Monticello Raceway and the rest until the current history.   In the late 1980's he buys his own farm and expanded to buy another farm in another state altogether to expand and enhance his breeding operation. Harnness racing driver Jack Pelling - A 3rd generation US-born/raised for the first decade of his life, only to return to his family's roots in da land down unda, Perth, Australia; but the bug of sport kept biting him as his blood in the Industry is super thick. He decided to move back to the states a few years ago and worked his way from the ground up to prove himself as a horseman. Only three (3) months driving on the East Coast and he's already making his own name known in the Standardbred Industry. Very appreciative of all of the support and love from fellow horsepeople; he's a Driver/Trainer to watch! Amber Sawyer - A 2nd generation horsewoman (AKA the 'Pink Lady') who's instilling her knowledge of the sport to her 3rd generation son; she delved into her history of being privileged to be around horses everyday of her life. Very well-travelled around most racetracks and fairs in the Midwest and out East, she become known as a trainer with patience in fixing broken down horses. When an acquaintance had an old war horse (248 starts with 26 wins, 36 places and 37 shows in the US all besides his 6 wins Down Under) with a broken-down suspensory issue it took a lil nudging to finally convince her and the rest is well, soon to be history! This story becomes a story in itself - a literal book was published and she's now garnering local, regional, national and now INTERNATIONAL press! Anthony MacDonald - A very humble second generation Canadian harness racing horseman who's worked hard through the years learning from the ground up - then putting himself out there in the public arena to represent fellow horsepeople.   He then took a shot and along with his wife, brothers and entire family/team have grown into one of the largest, if not THE largest fractional ownerships possibly in the entire Industry - some thirteen (13) countries and 900 owners presently with plans to grow! Mike Bozich - A first generation self-taught jack-of-all trades announcer who's paid his dues working hard through the Industry from a literal last minute chance to get directly involved first hand with the sport, well bug we all have.   His insight is unique, talking about people he personally listened to over the years and how announcers all learn and share from one another!
