Kristensson Akorie AB to her second win in France and now for life earnings of 349,119€. In the Prix d’Espalion (purse 49,000€, 2100 meters autostart for 7-9 year olds) an accident was averted at the start as the car skidded and its driver masterfully avoided any horses. Eileen (7f Royal Dream-Liberation) won the race timed in 1.13.9kr with Romain Derieux the trainer/driver. It was her 12th career victory now for 196,230€ earned. The Prix de la Forte Mace (purse 44,000€, 2700 meters for three year olds) saw a wire to wire victory in 1.17.9kr for Impressionist (3m Ready Cash-One Lady de Nappes). Bahia Quesnot (10f Scipion du Goutier-Queen Ines), sent off at 18/1 odds, and in only her fifth career monte harness racing appearance, raced in range of the leaders throughout and then gamely rallied back along the pegs to win the Gr. I monte Prix de Cornulier at Vincennes. 18 horses faced the starter and raced 2700 meters for the 700,000€ purse. Matthieu Abrivard was her jockey for trainer Junior Guelpa and owner Tahor Alt-Hamouda. Bahia won for the 11th time in her career and increased her earnings to 1,453,408€ with the 315,000€ winner’s share of today’s purse. She is already qualified for next Sunday’s Prix d’Amerique. This great mare began her career in 2013 and including today now has been 29 times first and second in 106 starts. Previously, she won the Gr. I Royal Mares at Napoli and has been second in the Gr. I Oslo Grand Prix and Olympiatravet. She was seventh in the 2020 edition of the Prix d’Amerique. There have been a number of champions that contested both the Cornulier and Amerique, the most recent that I recall being Roxane Griff that won the Cornulier in 2014 and 2015 and then was fourth and sixth in those Amerique editions. Amerique winner Oyonnax in 2010 was seventh in the Cornulier. He tried it again in 2011-2012 and was fourth in the Cornulier but unable to win the following week in those years. Nevertheless, it can be done with some luck and performance. In today’s race, the 3.7/1 Flamme du Goutier (6f Ready Cash-Utopie du Goutier) looked like a winner mid-stretch, and she held second for Antoine Wiels and trainer Thierry Duvaldestin, 10/1 Etoile de Bruyere (7f) was third for Adrien Lamy and trainer Charles Dreax. Behind the top three were 105/1 Jerry Mom, 8.4/1 Etonnant, 29/1 Dynamite Marceaux and 3.5/1 Feeling Cash. Jerry Mom is a full brother to Traders that won the Cornulier in 2018. III Prix de Brest (purse 90,000€, 2850 meters distance handicap, 6-11 year old Europeans) this day at Vincennes. He was off as the 5/10 odds favorite and scored in 1.13.2kr for trainer/driver Jean Michel Bazire and Ecurie Vautors. This was his 29th career victory and raised his career earnings to 882,830€. 6.1/1 Duel du Gers (8g Quaker Jet-La Chasse Verte) was second for trainer/driver Matthieu Abrivard and owner Ecurie J.P. Bragato. 33/1 Elvis du Vallon (7m Reve de Beylev) was third for Eric Raffin, ahead of 17/1 Mindyourvalue WF and 29/1 Ble du Gers, the latter two being 25-meter handicapped. January 15, 2020 - Galius (5m Love You-Star de Villenueve) held gamely on the front to secure the Prix de Mauriac (purse 53,000€), 2850 meters for European harness racing five year olds timed in 1.12.9kr. Yoann Lebourgeois was the pilot for owner/trainer Severine Raimond as Galius won for the 13 time in his career, now for 172,550€ earned. Galius has a career slate of 13-0-1 in 14 appearances. Face Time Bourbon won for the 28th time in his career now for 2,197,440€ earned, with Sebastien Guarato his trainer for owner Scuderia Bivans Srl. Vivid Wise As has the same owner.
